Syllabus and Exam Pattern for CDS exam 2017

CDS means Combined Defense Service. This exam is conducted by UPSC twice in a year. Generally it is conducted first time in February and second time in the month of November. The candidates who have applied for the November 2017 exam have very less time left. Those who are appearing for CDS Exam for the first time they should know the syllabus.

Syllabus is divided according to the posts they intend to opt after cracking the exam as shown in the tables below:

CDS Syllabus for IMA, AFA courses Written Exam for Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy

After clearing the written exam one has to appear for Intelligence and Personality Test.

Topic-wise syllabus for CDS

It is better to understand the pattern by knowing the topics to be covered in each subject to ease your preparation. Let us discuss the topics to be covered in each subject.

2.         GK syllabus

This section of CDS Exam is to test the general knowledge of the candidate which is based on the following topics:

  • Finance
  • Agriculture

  1. Mathematics syllabus
The main important topics of mathematics for CDS Exam are:
  • Arithmetic
  • Geometry
  • Algebra
  • Trigonometry
  • Mensuration
  • Statistics
It is very important to know the detailed syllabus as it gives you the right direction to study.  In case one is not aware of the topics to be covered for the exam then he or she fails to attempt the question paper effectively.

Preparation tips for CDS General Knowledge Section

Every year UPSC conducts Combined Defence Services Examination. It is conducted twice in a year for the recruitment of Indian Defence forces for Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and Officer’s Training Academy. CDS Exam has three papers such as English, Mathematics and General Knowledge for Indian Army Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy.
